Pop star Cody Simpson has gone from long shot to represent Australia in the pool to making his second squad for подписчики в инстаграм the green and gold after achieving stunning success at the Commonwealth Games despite his love triangle drama.
The 25-year-old has just been named alongside girlfriend Emma McKeon to represent his country in the star-studded Duel in the Pool exhibition races against the best talent America has to offer.
To be held for the first time in 15 years in this month, the Duel will see the countries send their top swimmers to compete at the city's Olympic aquatic centre and race in open-water events at Bondi Beach.

The couple - pictured on holiday in Barcelona this year - will both take on the best America has to offer in the famous Duel in the Pool exhibition series
The call-up comes after Simpson scored a gold medal in the men's 4x100m freestyle, a silver in the 4x100m medley relay and a personal best in his pet 100m butterfly event at the Commonwealth Games.

It caps a rapid rise through the ranks for the chart-topping singer, подписчики в инстаграм who was viewed as little chance of wearing the green and gold when he made his shock decision to give his all to swimming in 2020.
He moved back home from America to train with the best the country has to offer ahead of competing at the Australian Swimming Championships in May last year, where he surprised many fans by qualifying for the Commonwealth Games.
His journey wasn't without controversy as McKeon's ex, Olympic gold medallist Kyle Chalmers, подписчики в инстаграм took his spot in the 100m butterfly at the World Championships in June when he suddenly backflipped on his decision not to contest the event.

The Games were a very different story for Simpson, who told his more than four million Instagram followers how the experience had left him awestruck.
McKeon and Simpson will be joined by Birmingham gold medallist Mollie O'Callaghan, Shayna Jack and Mack Horton when they take on the USA in Sydney

The last Duel in the Pool between the USA and Australia in 2007 saw the Americans emerge victorious.



There was controversy when Australia's Libby Lenton became the first woman to better 53 seconds for the 100m freestyle, but her stunning swim wasn't ratified as a world record because the mixed relay she recorded the time in wasn't recognised as an event by governing body FINA.
